Bridesmaids - the guide
Be kind to your bridesmaids, and they’ll be kind to you in return. They are an essential part of your wedding day, and there a number of ways in which you can make their day special, too. Here’s a few other ways in which the bridesmaids can get involved:
- Helping the chief bridesmaid to organise the hen party
- Attending all wedding-related parties, rehearsals and shopping trips. It’s a hard life…
- Keeping in touch with the bride re arrangements and details
- The bridesmaids could buy their dress and shoes
- Organising and attending bridesmaid dress fittings
- Taking an interest in all the details, and helping with the organisation where possible
- Helping the bride get dressed and ready for the wedding
- Keeping a stash of useful things for the bride throughout the day, including lipstick, translucent powder, clear nail varnish, plasters, headache pills, key phone numbers, mobile phone, directions/address of first night venue, spare pair of tights or stockings, perfume, or tissues
- Arriving early for the ceremony
- Taking charge of the bride’s bouquet at the altar
- Posing for photographs
- Helping the bride into the car when she leaves for the reception
- Looking after the bride. Making sure her dress is looking good, rearranging the veil and that making sure that she always has a drink
- Chatting to all of the guests; making sure that everyone is having fun
- Forming part of the receiving line
- Taking their place at the top table
- Looking after each other, especially if there are little ones
- Helping clear up after the reception.
